Powell: Donāt Get Greedy

Jerome Powell gave a speech in Rhode Island yesterday, and if you're worried markets are starting to overheat, his comments wonāt calm your nerves. He didnāt call it a ābubble,ā but he isnāt denying it either.
When pressed on valuations, the Fed Chair didnāt hedge: āby many measures ⦠equity prices are fairly highly valued.ā
Most central banker speeches are coded and subtle, but thatās as close as Powell will get to saying āthings are looking frothy.ā He also reassured the audience that weāre not in a ātime of elevated financial stability risks,ā but markets didnāt love it.
Stocks flipped red right after his remarks, which reversed a rally that had taken off after the rate cut last week. Investors were riding high on hopes of a new liquidity cycle, but Powellās speech has called that into question.
Powell clarified that while the Fed watches financial conditions closely, itās not trying to micromanage asset prices. He reminded the audience that markets interpret Fed moves and front-run expectations, and thatās fine, until asset inflation becomes systemic risk.
Takeaway: Powell is definitely messaging investors ādonāt get greedy.ā After one of the strongest equity runs of the year, the Fed is signaling it sees the heat. Itās not just what he said, itās what he refused to deny. Stocks are flying, rates are falling, valuations are stretched, and the Fed? Still shrugging⦠for now.

Career Compounding
Markets compound wealth. Habits compound character. Careers compound reputation.
Early on, the numbers are small, one project, one mentor, one opportunity. But the flywheel turns, slowly at first, then all at once.
The tragedy is that most people quit just before compounding becomes visible.
They jump companies for small raises, abandoning the snowball before it gathers momentum.
Compounding works on decades, not quarters.
If you want exponential results, align yourself with vehicles (skills, companies, mentors) that youād be proud to compound with for 10+ years.
Then let time do the work.
