According to the Institute of International Education, the number of UK students attending American universities has increased by a whopping 28% in the 2021-22 academic year, with a total of 10,292 students making the journey across the pond. 1. Story of the Day: Brits Head to US Colleges

It looks like more and more Brits are saying goodbye to the Royal Family drama and hello to American college life.
According to the Institute of International Education, the number of UK students attending American universities increased by a whopping 28% during the 2021-22 academic year, with a total of 10,292 students making the journey across the pond. And it's not just the rich and famous Brits making the jump, even middle-class families with no American connections are sending their kids to American colleges.
But what's driving all these Brits to leave their homeland and study in the US? It could be the increasing costs of higher education in the UK, or maybe it's the more relaxed American admissions process that values extracurricular activities just as much as grades.
British students also love the flexibility of being able to defer choosing a major until their second year of college, whereas in British universities you have to choose your field of study before enrolling.
While there are certainly downsides to studying in the US, such as higher tuition fees, it seems that these higher costs aren't enough to deter British students from making the move. In fact, with the help of academic and sports scholarships, these students are practically running across the pond to attend American colleges.
Takeaway: While the British may be known for their love of tea and crumpets, it seems they're also starting to appreciate the value of a good old American education. Despite making up a small percentage of international students in the US (which is still dominated by Chinese and Indian students), Brits are flocking to American universities in record numbers. But hey, at least the Brits know a good deal when they see it. After all, with so many Americans questioning the worth of a four-year degree, it's nice to see some folks still believe in the power of higher education.

4. Book of the Day: Welcome to the Universe

Welcome to the Universe is a personal guided tour of the cosmos by three of today's leading astrophysicists.
Inspired by the enormously popular introductory astronomy course that Neil deGrasse Tyson, Michael A. Strauss, and J. Richard Gott taught together at Princeton, this book covers it all―from planets, stars, and galaxies to black holes, wormholes, and time travel.
Describing the latest discoveries in astrophysics, the informative and entertaining narrative propels you from our home solar system to the outermost frontiers of space.
How do stars live and die? Why did Pluto lose its planetary status? What are the prospects of intelligent life elsewhere in the universe? How did the universe begin? Why is it expanding and why is its expansion accelerating? Is our universe alone or part of an infinite multiverse?
Answering these and many other questions, the authors open your eyes to the wonders of the cosmos, sharing their knowledge of how the universe works.
“There are people, who walk around every day, asserting that we are alone in this cosmos. They simply have no concept of large numbers, no concept of the size of the cosmos.”

7. Daily Acumen: 6 Stages in Start Up Financing and Fundraising
1. Pre-Seed Funding
This stage of funding comes very early in the life of the startup. It is the stage where the company is just kicking off operations.
2. Seed Funding
This fund finances the business’s first steps. The money raised is majorly for product development, market research, and team growth. With seed funding, the startup can get assistance in determining what its final products will be and who its target demographic is.
3. Series A Funding
Once the startup has an established user base and consistent revenue or a proper track record, it can seek Series A funding to further optimize its user base and product offerings. The investors involved in the Series A round typically come from Venture Capital firms.
4. Series B Funding
A Series B round is similar to Series A in terms of the processes and the key players. However, this stage takes businesses to the next level, past the development stage. Here, investors help startups expand their market reach because the company has already gone through Series A funding and has developed a substantial user base; what is next is growing the company to meet new levels of demand.
5. Series C Funding
Series C funding is usually the last stage of VC financing. Businesses in this funding stage are doing well and require additional funding to help develop new products, expand into new markets, or even acquire other companies.
However, some companies may conduct more funding rounds, Series D or E. Investors in this round put in the capital with an expectation to receive more than double that amount back.
6. Initial Public Offering
Initial Public Offering (IPO) is the last funding stage. Here, the company transitions from a private one to a public company. At this stage, the company is stable and willing to offer its shares to the public.
